Her Grandfather & the Dargah
A letter of love, faith, and a spiritual promise
There is something incredibly sacred about the bond between a granddaughter and her grandfather — a love that carries generations of prayers, wisdom, and quiet, unwavering strength. Every time Maheen speaks about her grandfather, I hear the deepest tenderness in her voice, and it makes me fall even more in love with the girl she is.
She once told me about her wish to visit the Dargah — a place of spiritual stillness, of whispered duas and hearts laid bare before God. She dreams of standing there beside her grandfather, holding his hand, letting the peace of that sacred space wash over them both. That image — of her and her grandfather making that journey together — is one of the most beautiful things I have ever held in my heart.
When I finally get to Australia and we are together, I want nothing more than to be part of that moment. I want to stand quietly beside her, to witness that precious connection between her and the man who helped shape her into the extraordinary woman she is. I will carry duas of my own — gratitude for her grandfather who raised such a beautiful soul, and a prayer that God keeps him in good health and happiness for many more years to come.
To her grandfather: thank you for your prayers, your strength, and for being the light that shaped my Maheen. I promise to honour her the way she deserves — with respect, with love, and with a devotion that never fades.
Maheen, one day we will make that Dargah visit together — you, your grandfather, and me. I promise you that. 🤍
